'It was a relief to crumb the table. Crumbing the table gave one time to think, and if Miss Willerton were going to write a story, she had to think about it first. She could usually think best sitting in front of her typewriter, but this would do for the time being. First, she had to think of a subject to write a story about. There were so many subjects to write stories about that Miss Willerton never could think of one. That was the hardest part of writing a story, she always said.' p33

I get the same feeling, when I'm trying to come up with a subject to write about! Great Snippet.
the twenty seven writers in my class would all agree!!! steven
I could tell that distinctive Southern American voice. She was an amazing talent.
So she has! And the story is well worth reading, as you know. Steve and Spangle .... there is always a time like that, but then the inspiration flows (as I am sure that your students will or will have discovered).
Thank you for your comments.
So interesting! Thanks for posting and for your sweet comment. xo style, she wrote
I love this snippet. So true! There are so many things to write about, I have trouble thinking of one. I love the irony of that.
Thanks Style - as to the comment; ¡de nada!.
Thanks Melissa - I was thinking of both you and Spangle as I put this one up .... and, yes, great irony. You must read this short story.
I have just written a post that I will publish in the near future, about personal space, and the impulse that motivates people to be creative.
I'd love to read the complete stories!
so glad you received your package and liked it :-)
